<Instructions>

The game is entirely text-based, with a total of 11 commands at your disposal. Even though the terminal is  bash-inspired, most commands feature a limited functionality.

During the game you’re tasked with investigating a theft, navigating various terminal containing precious information. When you’re ready to make a judgement, tip the police with the ip address of the culprit (using the 'send' command). Based on your tip, the conclusion will unfold in different ways, as there are 3 different endings.

/:$ You’ve never interacted with a bash console before? Fret not!

At any moment you can use the help command to get information on how to use any other command (as in 'help ls' to get info about the ls command), and you can view which commands are available with list-commands 1, list-commands 2, and list-commands 3. Pretty self-explanatory, right?

/:$Important notes:

  • You can scroll up and down the terminal by using the mouse wheel.
  • The green arrow indicates that the input is out of the screen, downwards.
  • Please don't use the clear command, it's very buggy and currently it's more trouble than it's worth, I'll fix it after the jam scoring ends (19/05).
  • The command connect takes up to two parameters, instead of only one as indicated in the help. The second parameter is for the password, in case it has one. For example: 'connect 15.2.2.130 password'.

<You’ve been tasked to find and report the culprit of a large-scale cyberattack and grand theft. Using the tools you’ve been given, and your deductive reasoning, will you arrive at the deep truth?>

<Game description>

Codename::GreyHat is a text-based adventure made in Unity, mixing a bit of hacking, a bit of detective work, and a bit of log-based storytelling to try formulating a new approach to the theme, while avoiding making any actual art, since I'm a solo-programmer.

During the game you're tasked with investigating a theft, navigating various terminal containing precious information. When you're ready to make a judgement, tip the police with the ip address of the culprit. Based on your tip, the conclusion will unfold in different ways.

This game's been made entirely by me in 48h for the LudumDare 48th GameJam, submitted as a "Compo" entry.

Note: I currently don't have access to a linux OS, so I can't guarantee that the linux build works properly.

Note 2: Due to how Unity handles requests for files on the web, when opening a file sometimes the text may appear with a small delay. This will be fixed in future versions.
